About FunridesUK

FunridesUK Launched in June 2006 and became the first non-competitive equine events diary in the UK, promoting funride events for the pleasure rider.

With so many competitive rides swamping the diary pages, there seemed to be a less and less that encouraged riding for pleasure. Gone have the days when a hack out was fun? Certainly not! In fact, there are thousands of riders out there who are not seeking the dizzy heights of competitive riding, but actually want to enjoy exploring the countryside with their horse or pony.

The aim is to bring a voice to happy hacking, getting out there to see what the beautiful countryside has to offer. The most exciting point I feel about Funrides, is the fact ANYONE can enjoy them! YES! Whether you are a novice or experienced rider, enjoy just hacking and/or jumping, gentle rides or cross country terrain, young or mature, pony or horses, you can enjoy these events! Unlike competitions, there are no class seperations! So treat you and your horse to a nice ride, go with friends or family and have a GREAT time!

FUNRIDESUK's AIM To increase the amount of pleasure riding events and to be able enjoy and support the countryside with both our equines and riding friends.

My Equine background

I like to follow a more natural and classical approach to Horse Management and Training. So I try to keep my mare as close to her natural enviroment as I can. She is Barefoot, lives out all year, enjoys varied activities, can be ridden bareback and bitless. She also has the freedom to express natural behaviour. I try to avoid Negative punishment, which has resulted in a partnership of greater understanding.

I have worked within the equine industry since I was sixteen, from which I have gained much experience in different areas of equestrianism. I have worked as a Private Groom, Riding school Groom, Riding Instructor, Groom for Dianne Breeze, Equine rehabilitation and rescue, Equine behavioural studies at the NAC in South wales and then my own experience from working with my own horse.

Along the way I have met many influential riders, whom advice has been very helpful for the more natural and classical approach to the care and training of horses.

So my message to you, is to have FUN with your horse or pony. Remember they have feelings too and that a kinder approach makes for a happier equine and many days of joy together!

Best Wishes,
